School of the Moving Image

The Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement is a pivotal moment in the Centre’s artistic proposal. The School of the Moving Image programme was born out of a desire among the Education Department to include the audiences not only with finished projects but also in the midst of the creative processes. Contemporary art has made video and the moving image a centrepiece. From digital works to virtual and exposed cinema, the production of moving images is increasingly democratic and accessible. At the heart of this form remains the experience of innovative creativity, collective production and technical work that is renewed each time.
The School of the Moving Image aims to give primary and secondary school students the basic notions of writing, directing and post-production of a video, combining theoretical references with practical application with technicians and educators. The programme is divided into 4 sessions per term, of one and a half hours each, between the classroom and the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève.
