The Centre is pleased to present a filmed version of the play VIRUS, a simulation game initiated in 2018 in collaboration with scientists and game developers.
VIRUS is inspired by realistic pandemic scenarios developed by the European Union in association with an interministerial French structure as exercises for governments and hospitals. As a pandemic uprises, you are invited to take drastic decisions in a crisis situation.
Some countries are confined while others not, borders are closed to the unvaccinated, international trade is faltering, the rich are getting richer, vaccines are being managed in a fuzzy way and resistance to the vaccine is flourishing. The authorities are struggling to respond to the evolving pandemic. We all now have an opinion on the actions and inactions of governments. But what would you do yourself if you were the one making the decisions?
This is the question that the public was confronted with during this life-size game. The video recording was made in October 2021.
