The ordeal of illness is a violent experience, for the body, and through the eyes and judgments of society. Sabrina Röthlisberger has succeeded in converting her painful experience into a creative force and a sensitive work: LE SANG, a performance created during her residency at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, between October 2019 and January 2020.
This video is a documentation of Röthlisberger’s performance LE SANG presented on January 16, 2020 at the Centre. Through the staging of her poems, published in an eponymous collection at the beginning of 2020, and a sound and choreographic work, Röthlisberger unveils, in a scream, a text that evokes both her pain and a dark eroticism. She questions what could be considered as a failed life, its completions, progresses and victories.
