Season 2, Episode 5: Giulio Busi, ‘Heavenly Palaces in Judaism’, and Abraham Joshua Heschel, ‘The Sabbath’
The second season of Overmorrow’s Library is dedicated to world-building, world-ending, and travel across worlds. Federico Campagna presents a new selection of books that might help us to appreciate the fragility of ‘worlds’, and the art of creating new ones through a particular use of our imagination.
This episode presents two books that will take us beyond the vault of the sky. Prof. Giulio Busi and Rabbi Joshua Heschel explain Jewish mysticism as a technique of ‘downward ascension’ (or ‘upwards sinking’) which reminds us that human nature, and the sacred nature of reality, is forever distinct from the social norms of a world run by labour.
