From Geneva to Lausanne through the offspaces
Sofia Kouloukouri in conversation with Roxane Bovet on the occasion of the exhibition Lemaniana
In this video, Sofia Kouloukouri (artist and mediator) takes a walk with Roxane Bovet (researcher and curator) in Geneva and discuss independent art spaces of the region. How do they relate to the ‘official’ scene? How do we explain the emergence of hybrid formats, such as an offspace at home? Or an exhibition in a bag? Why are some art spaces nomadic? It is interesting to see how the phenomenon of off-spaces unfolds, both historically and in relation to the life of the artist, the economy of the craft and the public sphere. In their company, make a virtual journey from Geneva to Lausanne, passing through some of the offspaces and the words of their founders.
To learn more about the offspaces of the region, listen to the podcast of the same name, produced by Roxane Bovet and available here. The forthcoming exhibition catalog will also include a text dedicated to this subject, written by Roxane Bovet.
