Time-Eater (Circuit) consists of still images extracted from footage shot by the artist at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York, accompanied by a written essay appearing in the form of subtitles. Is a racetrack too obvious an allegory for late capitalist America? The film paints a portrait of a place, its clientele, and the horse racing industry in the United States as a whole, an industry based on the exploitation not only of animals, but also of human beings.

Roman Selim Khereddine (b. 1989, Zurich) is a visual artist whose work investigates hierarchical and exploitative relationships between humans and animals as a lens to reflect on social and political systems. His recent projects have examined a derelict horse racetrack in New York, the dynamic between a police dog and its handler, and the migration of Moroccan snake charmers who became tent workers in Swiss circuses. His institutional solo exhibitions include Beiss die Hand at Helmhaus in Zurich and PARTNER at Alte Fabrik in Rapperswil-Jona, with a forthcoming show at Heidelberger Kunstverein. Khereddine holds a Master’s degree in History and Fine Arts and received a Swiss Art Award in 2025.
