Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro
2025
The blue, the sunsets, the desert, the dance with the blue walls of Chefchaouen, and the first Brazilian Carnival song. How do I say “we had a perfect day” in Arabic? How do I say “love” in Arabic?
Castiel Vitorino Brasileiro (b. 1996, Espírito Santo, Brazil) is a visual artist, writer, and clinical psychologist whose practice explores the continuum between life and death—what she calls transmutation. Through language and ritual, Vitorino transforms vulnerability into a space for becoming. Rooted in the Bantu-Brazilian diaspora, her work interlaces medicine, ancestral knowledge, and spirituality to imagine healing as resistance. Her recent exhibitions include Eterno Vulnerável at Solar dos Abacaxis (Rio de Janeiro, 2025) and The Language of Angels at Mendes Wood Brussels (2024). She also participated in the 35th São Paulo Biennial (2023).
